Connect a Kentico Kontent account

Introduction

To connect your Kentico Kontent account to Cloudpress, you will need to give Cloudpress some information about your Kentico Kontent project.

This document will walk you through the process of linking your account.

Create a content type

Before you connect your Kentico Kontent account, you will need to create a project and a content type for the content you wish to export in Kentico Kontent, if you have not already done so.

The content type must contain at least the following elements:

  • One text element. This element will be used for the item title. When exporting documents from Google Docs, Cloudpress set the value of this element to the title of the Google Doc.
  • One rich text element. This element will be used to store the content for the item, in other words, the content (or body) of the Google Doc.

You can see an example Blog Post content type defined in Kentico Kontent in the screenshot below. In this case, the element named Title will be used as the title of the document, and the Content element will be used for the content of the document.

For more information, refer to Create and delete content types in the Kentico Kontent documentation.

Link your Kentico Kontent account

You can connect your Kentico Kontent account by going to the Connections page in the Cloudpress Dashboard. Depending on whether or not you have previously connected other accounts, you will either see an empty list or a list of accounts that you have already connected.

If you see an empty list of connected accounts, click on the Connect a Kentico Kontent account button:

Alternatively, click on the Connect another account drop-down menu, then select Connect a Kentico Kontent account:

This will take you to the Connect a Kentico Kontent account screen:

You will need to specify the following information:

  • Account name. The account name is a unique name for this account on Cloudpress. This name will be used wherever Cloudpress refers to this account, so use a descriptive name like your Kentico project name, for example.
  • Project ID. This is the ID of your project and can be found by going to Project Settings > API Keys in the Kentico Kontent application.
  • Content Management API Key. This can also be found by going to Project Settings > API Keys in the Kentico Kontent application. You may need to enable the Management API first

.

Once you have specified this information, you can click on the Connect account button to connect this account.

Configure your account

After you have connected the account, you will need to specify configuration settings to inform Cloudpress about the content type you want to use.

You will need to specify the codenames for the content type, as well as the elements that will be used for the item title and content.

You can copy the codenames by clicking the codename button ({#}) near the name of the content type and content elements on the Content Type screen in Kentico Kontent.

  • Content Type Codename is the codename for the content type you want to use when exporting documents to this linked account.
  • Title Element Codename is the codename for the element that will be used for the item title.
  • Content Element Codename is the codename for the element that will be used to store the content for the item.
  • Language is the code name for the language that should be used. When exporting a document, Cloudpress will create a language variant for this language. You can find the code name for the language by going to Project Settings > Localization in the Kentico Kontent application

Once you have completed the information, you can click the Save Configuration button to complete the configuration of your Kentico Kontent account.
