How to export a
Google Doc to Markdown

Export your document to Markdown following these three simple steps.

  1. Select the document you want to export

    Use the Google Drive picker to select the document you want to export. Don’t worry; we do not get full access to your account. We will only have temporary access to download the content of the document you select.

  2. Specify the export settings

    Our export tool has a few nifty tricks, such as converting standalone links to embeds. For example, add a link to a YouTube video, and we’ll generate the correct embed code for you.

  3. Click the Export button

    We will download your document’s content and convert it to Markdown. We will also download and include any images in your document. Once we’re done, we’ll email you a link to download a ZIP file with the content.

Why should you use the Cloudpress Markdown export tool?

Google Docs is a great tool for writing and collaborating on content. However, it does not have built-in support for exporting the content to Markdown.

The Cloudpress Markdown export tool will export the contents of your Google Doc to Markdown for you to easily use in your Headless CMS, GitHub Pages, or anywhere else you want to use Markdown. We also download all images in your document and include them in the ZIP file we generate for you.
